According to a Fox News Report, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) staffer, Seth Rich, who was found murdered last July in Washington, D.C., leaked 44,053 emails, including 17,761 attachments, to WikiLeaks prior to his death.
“I have seen and read the emails between Seth Rich and WikiLeaks,” an unnamed federal investigator said. The investigator told Fox the FBI has the emails, but that the case still belongs to the Washington Police Department.
The investigator’s disclosure is supported by the findings of Rod Wheeler, a former D.C. homicide detective hired by Seth Rich’s family to investigate his death.
“My investigation up to this point shows there was some degree of email exchange between Seth Rich and WikiLeaks,” said Wheeler. “I do believe that the answers to who murdered Seth Rich sits on his computer on a shelf at the D.C. police or FBI headquarters.”
This news has led to speculation that Rich may have been the source responsible for the leaks of DNC communications to WikiLeaks. Interestingly enough, Julian Assange, founder of WikiLeaks, has remained firm in his public statements, claiming that the DNC emails it obtained and published were obtained through internal leaks, not Russian hacks.
Furthermore, in December 2016, former British ambassador to Uzbekistan and an associate of Assange, Craig Murray, told the British Daily Mail that he traveled to Washington, D.C. to meet one of the DNC leakers. “Neither of [the leaks] came from the Russians,” Murray said. “The source had legal access to the information. The documents came from inside leaks, not hacks.”
Unfortunately, law enforcement officials have been less that cooperative with Rod Wheeler’s independent investigation. And he suspects politics are in play, keeping some questions unanswered.
“[Neither] the police department nor the FBI have been forthcoming,” Wheeler told Fox.
“They haven’t been cooperating at all. I believe that the answer to solving his death lies on that computer, which I believe is either at the police department or … at the FBI. I have been told both,” he said.
“I have a source inside the police department that has looked at me straight in the eye and said, ‘Rod, we were told to stand down on this case, and I can’t share any information with you. Now, that is highly unusual for a murder investigation, especially from a police department. Again, I don’t think it comes from the chief’s office, but I do believe there is a correlation between the mayor’s office and the DNC,” Wheeler told Fox.
“My investigation shows someone within the D.C. government, Democratic National Committee, or Clinton team is blocking the murder investigation from going forward,” said Wheeler. “That is unfortunate. Seth Rich’s murder is unsolved as a result of that.”
