NFL Just Got Their National Anthem Protesting Platform Yank, Millions Will No Longer See It

Well, with all the public backlash, and now that NFL ratings have crashed and ticket sales have plummeted, Fox Sports has decided it will no longer air the national anthem, making it the first major broadcast partner to do so.

According to Newsday, Fox Sports President Eric Shanks says it will go back to doing what it had done in the past, which was omit the playing of the anthem during game broadcasts.

“The standard procedure is not to show them because of the way the commercial format works and the timing of the anthem to get to the kickoff,” Shanks said Tuesday at an event to promote Fox’s soccer coverage of the 2018 World Cup. “So I think we’re going to pay attention to events.”

“Who knows what’s going to happen? A lot of time is happening between now and then. But I think the plan would be to get back to a normal schedule. I think that’s where we sit today on a Tuesday . . . It seems like there’s more than 24 hours in a day now, doesn’t there?”

Naturally, however, many liberal sports reporters are already taking issue with this. Take Matt Yoder of Awful Announcing for example.  He is furious because this move to “get back to football” takes away the players’ forum to protest against the country.

“It’s impossible to go back to a normal schedule now when the NFL and its athletes are in the middle of a culture war with the sitting President of the United States,” Yoder claims. “The anthem will be a huge story this week and likely will be throughout the remainder of the season as well.”

However, what Yoder doesn’t seem to understand in this is that Fox did not make this decision to sabotage the athletes in their so-called “culture war” with President Trump. They made the decision because, according to a recent national survey, the athletes have already lost.

And this is exactly why many teams are already beginning to abandon the protest movement.

In other words, it only remains a story because liberals and reporters like Yoder are keen on keeping it as one.  So…tell me again who’s really responsible for the “culture war” here.

Good call, Fox Sports.
