Well, folks, it seems the $17 million, four-year BaySys 2017 expedition, designed to gather evidence of global warming and “climate change” in the Arctic, was canceled last month after – get this…ice was TOO ABUNDANT in the Arctic, and the the icebreaker it was going to use was “needed elsewhere.”
Yes, the research vessel CCGS Amundsen Ice Breaker, was removed from the fact-finding mission, and instead redirected by the Canadian Coast Guard in order to clear lanes for fishing boats, supply vessels, etc., according to the Winnipeg Free Press.
According to Science Daily:
Unfortunately, the conditions required much more extended support than anticipated. Fleet management issues and inadequate alternative ships forced the cancellation of the science program due to significant safety concerns.
This decision to cancel the BaySys 2017 program was not made lightly. Although the cancellation was due to circumstances beyond control of the Expedition Team, every effort was made to develop a viable option to allow this valuable work to proceed.

Additionally, as Breitbart’s James Delingpole pointed out, this is now the third ship to stop its mission into finding proof of global warming:
There was the Ship of Fools expedition in which an Australian climate researcher called Chris Turkey had to call an expedition to the melting Antarctic after his ship got stuck in the ice.
The Caitlin Expedition – supported by the Prince of Wales – in which Pen Haddow and his team had to abandon their trip to the North Pole because it was colder than they’d expected.
Most recently there was Ship of Fools II, in which a global warming research voyage by David Hempleman Adams had to be curtailed because of unexpected ice.
Furthermore, and perhaps most shockingly, scientists connected to the mission actually seemed to be surprised that such heavy ice was present in the Arctic.
“It became clear to me very quickly that these weren’t just heavy ice conditions, these were unprecedented ice conditions,” Dr. David Barber, the lead scientist on the study, admitted to Vice Magazine.
“We were finding thick multi-year sea ice floes which on level ice were five meters thick … it was much, much thicker and much, much heavier than anything you would expect at that latitude and at that time of year,” he continued.
Despite the rather thick layer of irony here, global warming activists have already been scrambling around, arguing that the Amundsen’s reassignment simply serves as proof that a warming arctic is sending greater floes into the sea lanes as Arctic ice shears. While there is some plausibility to that, the simple truth of the matter is this (which I’m sure is hard for most liberals to digest): Humans know very little about the climate cycles of our world!
Now, if only everyone could accept this as truth, stop pushing the politically fueled narrative of climate change, and perhaps focus their energy elsewhere, that would be great.
