Wow! In the wake of Sunday night’s shooting at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, where more than 50 people were killed and 400 others were left injured, top legal executive at CBS, Hayley Geftman-Gold, said via social media that she “is not even sympathetic” for the victims.
“If they wouldn’t do anything when children were murdered I have no hope that Repugs will ever do the right thing,” wrote Geftman-Gold on Facebook, perhaps referring to Sandy Hook. “I’m actually not even sympathetic bc country music fans often are Republican gun toters.”
Considering it’s CBS we’re talking about here, which has a history of hostility towards Republicans, Geftman-Gold’s comment, even though despicable, really shouldn’t have been all that surprising.
However, what is pleasantly surprising is that, on Monday, CBS swiftly announced that Geftman-Gold had been fired.
“This individual, who was with us for approximately one year, violated the standards of our company and is no longer an employee of CBS. Her views as expressed on social media are deeply unacceptable to all of us at CBS. Our hearts go out to the victims in Las Vegas and their families,” CBS said in a statement to The Daily Caller News Foundation.
Good call, CBS. You did the right thing here.
