In a simple, yet rather powerful gesture, the millennial organization known as Students for Life in America (SFLA) took to Capitol Hill last week, bearing nearly 200,000 baby socks (or 196,543 to be exact), each symbolically representing an unborn baby aborted at the hands of Planned Parenthood.
What a message!
Additionally, 88,000 of the socks were gathered up in 100 baskets — representing the number of abortions performed by Planned Parenthood since President Donald Trump took office — and were delivered to the office of House Speaker Paul Ryan.

“We’ve had students from California to Texas to Georgia collect and mail us baby socks to present to Congress to show that this generation wants to defund Planned Parenthood,” SFLA President Kristan Hawkins told Breitbart in a statement. “They expect our elected officials to keep the promises they made during the election.”
“There is no excuse for the government to keep funding Planned Parenthood,” she added. “These socks represent all the women betrayed by the abortion industry and their preborn babies who will never be able to wear the baby socks because of Planned Parenthood.”
Republican Senator Ben Sasse (NE), one of the featured guests at the event, said, “We need to have images like this so people start to reflect on the magnitude of the suffering that’s happening out there.”
“Our movement is not primarily about legislation. Our movement is not primarily about compulsion. This movement is not primarily about power,” Sasse said. “It’s about celebrating human dignity, and talking about the gift of life.”
According to the Independent Journal Review, the organization’s mission won’t stop here, either, as it plans to collect and display exactly 323,999 baby socks…one for each abortion performed by Planned Parenthood in 2016.
Well done, SFLA. Way to #sockit2pp! And Godspeed ahead.
